Can't get a return page value for custom content type

I created a custom content model, with publications for the events list and detail view pages on http://lynch.libertyconcepts.com/
While editing the site feature style for the view page (http://lynch.libertyconcepts.com/website/edit/page/page/63/en),
I used the default
<cms:return_link>Return</cms:return_link>, but it
returned an empty value. For now I've just hard-coded the link.
I assigned the Return Page in the site feature options, but kept reverting to No Return Page. Maybe I missed something in the page connections?

Fixed problem keeping the url for the return page in latest development branch
